Places To Help Find A Job

There are many employment centers and services that can help you with your job search. These are some of them:

YOUTHSOURCE CENTER These centers work with teens from 14-24, living in Los Angeles. They provide help with your job search, job skill training, tutoring and college mentoring.

REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM or 1- (562) 922-6850  Many school districts have ROP’s located in local high schools. A ROP can help you learn a job skill, get work experience and on-the-job training, earn high school credits, and prepare for career training.

WorkSource or 1- (888) 226-6300  Work Source centers are for youth over age 21.  They provide job skills assessments, technology training, and information about what jobs are out there.

Job Corps or 1- (213) 748-0134  This program instructs young people with informaton about careers, and how to find and keep a job.

Los Angeles Conservation Corps  This program privides job training and jobs with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.

SUMMER JOBS

Most of the centers above will have information on summer jobs. There are also summer jobs available specifically for foster youth ages 16-21 through a program called Bridges to Work.

RESOURCES FOR FORMER FOSTER YOUTH

The Right Way Foundation (RWF) or 213-746-6821.
A one-stop shop for career counseling, academic counseling, and entrepreneurship support.

Youth Career Development Program (YCDP). YCDP is a 12 to 24-month paid internship program that provides both work experience and academic training. The goal of the program is to prepare youth for a full-time, permanent position as a County employee. Contact YCDP at 1 – (562) 940-2999 for more information.
