Signs

If you suspect that a teen is a victim of domestic violence, check for any of these signs:

  • Bruises or other signs of physical injury.
  • Truancy, missing classes, failing classes, withdrawing from after-school activities, or dropping out of school.
  • Withdrawal from friends, family, or social activities.
  • Sudden changes in mood or personality.
  • Beginning to use alcohol or drugs.
  • Feeling that pregnancy will help her get out of a bad situation.
  • Crying for no apparent reason.
